Notes 1The interest rate for Stafford and PLUS Loans disbursed on or after July 1, 1998 through June 30, 2006 is variable. For the period July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011, the interest rate on Stafford Loans in repayment is 2.47% (down from 2.48%), the interest rate on in-school, grace, or deferment status Stafford Loans is 1.87% (down from 1.88%), and the interest rate on PLUS Loans is 3.27% (down from 3.28%). 2For subsidized Stafford Loans, the interest rate will be fixed at 6.0% for loans first disbursed on or after July 1, 2008 and before July 1, 2009; 5.6% for loans first disbursed on or after July 1, 2009 and before July 1, 2010; 4.5% for loans first disbursed on or after July 1, 2010 and before July 1, 2011; and 3.4% for loans first disbursed on or after July 1, 2011 and before July 1, 2012. 3The federal government pays the interest on the loan when the student is in school at least half-time, in a grace period, or in a deferment period.
